Responses have now poured in since the morning raid on Rep. Ilhan Omar’s (D-MN) home. The action from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) comes as Omar is under investigation for immigration fraud.
Omar blamed President Trump for the raid, claiming that he has weaponized law enforcement and seeks to intimidate her. “I’m ok. Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement. For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation,” she wrote on X, declaring, “I will not be silenced.”
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) also weighed in on the matter, saying, “The Trump administration’s raid on Congresswoman Ilhan Omar’s home is deeply disturbing and raises serious questions about the continued corrupt weaponization of the federal government against Donald Trump’s adversaries.”

“For years, Donald Trump and far-right extremists have relentlessly targeted Congresswoman Omar with vile personal attacks and baseless accusations. Now, less than 30 days until the midterm election, his violent mass deportation machine has descended upon the home of a duly elected Member of Congress and her family,” he added, going on to declare the investigation to be a “rogue abuse of power.”
The Chair of the Republican Party of Minnesota, Alex Plechash, meanwhile, said federal agents executed a “judicially authorized search warrant at Congresswoman Ilhan Omar’s home as part of an ongoing investigation.”
Quoting past comments from Omar regarding criminal investigations, Plechash said, “Our democracy rests on the rule of law. When someone—no matter how powerful they are—is suspected of a criminal act, our justice system investigates, charges, and convicts them in accordance with due process,” adding that “No one is above the law.”
“We couldn’t agree more, Congresswoman. We’re sure you still feel the same way now that it’s your front door. Minnesotans will be watching closely, and so will we.”
