For years, explorers and archaeologists have searched for physical evidence of the massive vessel described in Genesis. Now, that search is entering an astonishing new phase as researchers begin core drilling at the Durupınar Formation in eastern Turkey, a mysterious, boat-shaped formation near Mount Ararat that has fueled speculation for decades.
At roughly 515 feet long, the site has drawn attention for its unusual shape and proximity to the mountain traditionally associated with Noah’s Ark.
Researchers are not claiming they have found the Ark. Instead, samples taken from beneath the surface could help determine whether this formation is simply an unusual geological structure—or whether there is something else buried underneath.
And that is where things get interesting.
Because while the world waits to see what the drilling uncovers, Dinesh D’Souza says something remarkable is already happening in biblical archaeology.
“It’s almost as if God is choosing in our secular age to speak back through the stones,” D’Souza told Charisma Media while discussing his upcoming book, The Stones Cry Out.

D’Souza believes archaeological discoveries are bringing the people, places and civilizations of Scripture out of what skeptics have dismissed as religious mythology and into historical discussion.
“Suddenly the people and the places and the events of the Bible are like springing to life,” he said. “They’re entering the pages of history via the pathway of archaeology.”
One example he points to is the Hittites.
Scripture repeatedly mentions the Hittites, including Abraham’s purchase of a burial place from Ephron the Hittite. Yet D’Souza noted that skeptics once questioned this biblical people because evidence of their civilization was unknown. Archaeological discoveries eventually revealed an extensive Hittite empire centered in ancient Anatolia.
And D’Souza believes that matters.
“Your faith and knowledge kind of come beautifully together,” he said.
Still, some of Scripture’s greatest mysteries remain exactly that—mysteries.
Could that list be about to get shorter?
Right now, nobody knows.
But drills are going into the ground near Mount Ararat, technology is allowing researchers to investigate what previous generations could not and the ancient world of Scripture continues to be examined one discovery at a time.
Perhaps the question isn’t whether Christians need archaeology to prove their faith.
Perhaps it’s what happens when the stones start speaking.
