The global balance of power is shifting, and Pastor James Kaddis believes the changes unfolding before our eyes bear a striking resemblance to the geopolitical world described in Bible prophecy.
Pointing to Saudi Arabia’s growing economic, military and diplomatic influence, Kaddis argued that the larger story is not simply the kingdom’s increasing leverage over the United States.
“We are watching the architecture of the world power change before our eyes,” Kaddis said. “That’s the bigger issue here.”
Saudi Arabia has strengthened relationships with the West, China, Russia and the Islamic world while becoming increasingly independent on the world stage. Meanwhile, Kaddis pointed to something he believes Christians cannot ignore: America has no clearly identifiable role in end-times prophecy.
“When the Bible describes the nations and the power centers that become consequential to the fulfillment of end times prophecy, the United States is not mentioned,” he said.

Scripture identifies Israel, Persia — modern-day Iran — territories associated with Turkey, North Africa and other powers that emerge during the last days. Kaddis also points to Sheba and Dedan in Ezekiel 38 as representing peoples associated with the Arabian Peninsula.
“Saudi Arabia has a discernable position within the prophetic picture,” Kaddis said. “It’s clear America does not.”
That does not mean America must be destroyed or cease to exist.
“The biblical picture that we see establishes America’s inconsequentiality, but it does not explain precisely how America gets there,” Kaddis said. “We see the outcome. We don’t see the mechanism.”
Kaddis sees two possibilities.
America could decline through moral and economic failure as the nation continues turning away from God. But there is another possibility — one Kaddis is praying for.
A massive spiritual awakening could bring millions to Jesus Christ before the rapture. Their sudden removal could leave America unable to maintain its present economic, military and geopolitical dominance.
“I think maybe — and I’m praying for this — America could become inconsequential because so many of its people were saved and subsequently removed at the rapture,” Kaddis said.
That makes America’s greatest need spiritual rather than political.
“The greatest hope for America is not another political movement,” he said. “The greatest hope for America is the gospel of Jesus Christ.”
As Israel, Iran, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and other prophetic regions increasingly command global attention, Kaddis believes the picture is becoming clearer.
“The prophetic world is taking shape,” he said, “and it is taking shape without any clearly identifiable consequential role for the United States.”
