Before government hearings, documentaries and social media thrust unidentified aerial phenomena into everyday conversation, researchers, military veterans and Christian leaders had already begun wrestling with a pressing question: How should the church respond if more people begin looking to the UFO movement for spiritual answers?
That question was at the center of a recent interview between author and researcher L.A. Marzulli and retired Green Beret Paul Bock, whose forthcoming book, The Disclosure Agenda: A Green Beret’s Warning to the Church About UFOs, Aliens, and Their Emerging Religion, argues that Christians must be prepared to evaluate extraordinary claims through the lens of Scripture rather than speculation.
Bock, who served multiple deployments with U.S. Army Special Forces in Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria, described a military career marked by combat, traumatic brain injuries and what he believes was God’s protection through life-threatening situations. After being medically retired because of epilepsy stemming from repeated head trauma, he said the Lord redirected his mission field.

As Bock studied biblical prophecy alongside modern reports of UFOs and unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAPs), he became convinced that the church’s greatest challenge was not simply the phenomenon itself but the worldview developing around it.
“What we saw on our end was that it was the belief system that was forming around this,” Bock said. “That was what we were most concerned about.”
According to Bock, he and several colleagues met privately with pastors from various Christian backgrounds—not to promote conspiracy theories or insider government information, but to encourage church leaders to prepare biblical responses to questions many believers are already asking.
He said the concern was not whether people find discussions about UAPs fascinating but whether Christians are equipped to respond as alternative spiritual explanations become increasingly popular.
“The government’s talking about this,” Bock said. “Now, here’s what these people are saying. What’s your answer? Because … this is a religion that is forming.”
Marzulli, who has spent decades researching the paranormal and biblical prophecy, agreed that the church cannot afford to ignore the conversation.

“The church has to start giving answers,” Marzulli said. “The world is giving answers.”
Throughout the interview, both men repeatedly emphasized that their ultimate concern is not sensational stories but the eternal destiny of those searching for spiritual truth.
Bock warned that believers should resist becoming consumed with theories while neglecting Scripture itself.
“The only thing that we have is this,” Bock said, referring to the Bible. “Know this well enough that you can take and test anything that comes out against the text of Scripture.”
He added that Christians should prioritize knowing God’s Word over chasing fringe topics.
“If you don’t know this, nothing else matters,” Bock said. “No matter what occurs, know this well enough that you can take and test it against the text of Scripture.”
Marzulli echoed that challenge, encouraging believers to study Scripture carefully as they prepare for what he believes will be increasing spiritual deception in the years ahead.
The interview centered on one consistent message: Christians should not allow headlines, extraordinary claims or cultural trends to shape their theology. Instead, Bock urged believers to remain grounded in God’s Word, testing every spiritual claim against biblical truth while keeping the gospel—not UFOs—at the center of the conversation.
