The National Red Heifer Institute has announced the birth of a second red heifer in Israel within roughly six weeks, describing the development as another significant step toward restoring the biblical laws of purification connected to a future Temple.
According to Israel365 News, the new heifer was born in the Golan Heights just before Tisha B’Av, while two additional red heifers were also inseminated in Ancient Shiloh as part of the Institute’s long-term effort to establish a full herd.
Shai Givon, the breeder whose herd produced the new heifer, believes the timing is no coincidence.
“I feel that we are living in a historic era,” Givon said. “The Jewish people are more attuned than ever to the Temple and to restoring purity to Israel, and God is opening doors and opportunities that have not existed in 2,000 years.”
Because any physical blemish could disqualify the animal for the ritual described in Numbers 19, the Institute said no ear tag was placed on the calf at birth. However, the heifer was born as the female twin of a male calf, raising new halachic questions about whether a possible internal reproductive defect would affect her eligibility.
Rabbi Azariah Ariel, head of the Institute’s Beit Midrash, said the matter will undergo careful review before any decision is made.
“There is a real question as to whether a birth defect that is not external and visible on the cow’s body disqualifies her unblemished status,” Ariel said.
Beyond the birth itself, Institute leaders say interest in the Temple continues to grow throughout Israel. Yehuda Ben Tzvi said educational programs have reached thousands of people in recent weeks and described “a tremendous public awakening around the Temple.”

Givon believes the recent developments point to something even greater.
“We are on our way to raising a full herd of red heifers,” he said. “The team at the Institute expected potential heifers to be born this season, but her birth so close to Tisha B’Av gives the strong sense that God is pressing us to accelerate the path toward building the Temple. The real question is whether we want to.”
This is not a topic that is going away, regardless of what the naysayers believe.
God’s Word is clear that there will be a rebuilt Temple during the end times, and each new development surrounding the red heifer continues to keep that reality in the public eye.
