For many Christians, the next move God orchestrates may begin long before the moving truck arrives.
In a recent prophetic encouragement shared after relocating from the United States back to his native South Africa, minister Alwyn Uys reflected on what he believes the Holy Spirit has been revealing about relocation, transition and preparing for a new assignment.
Uys said he sensed the Lord highlighting a season in which many believers are being repositioned—not because they have failed where they are, but because they have completed what God intended for that particular season.
To illustrate the message, Uys described a vivid picture the Lord showed him.
“I will lead with this picture that the Lord showed me about a fish in a fish bowl and how this fish was growing, but it came to a point where it became too big for its environment,” he said.
According to Uys, the image represents Christians who have spiritually matured beyond the place where God originally planted them.
He explained that God often sends believers into specific environments to be trained, equipped and strengthened. But eventually, there comes a time when that assignment reaches completion.
“It’s not that the assignment is expiring because God is relocating you to a different place where the assignment will continue,” Uys said. “But right now, where you are right now, it has come to completion.”
One of the strongest themes throughout the message is that God often changes a person’s heart before changing their address.
“Oftentimes before God shifts you geographically, he will shift your heart,” Uys said. “Your spirit will know that God is busy moving you.”
That inward stirring, he believes, may explain why some Christians suddenly lose passion for places or circumstances they once loved. Rather than interpreting the feeling as dissatisfaction alone, Uys encouraged believers to prayerfully discern whether God is preparing them for something new.

He also challenged listeners not to wait until every detail is visible before responding in faith.
“Oftentimes we want to figure things out logically before we step into obedience,” he said. “I believe that God is calling some of you to step into obedience even if you don’t have all the answers.”
Instead, Uys urged practical preparation. Those sensing a coming move should begin organizing finances, updating passports or visas, exploring employment opportunities and preparing their households so they are ready when God opens the door.
“If you know that God wants to move you to a different country, get your passport ready. Get your visa stuff ready. Be ready.”
The message concluded with a prayer asking God to give believers discernment “like the sons of Issachar,” provision for the journey ahead and the courage to recognize the Lord’s timing.
For those of us navigating uncertainty, Uys’ message serves as a reminder that God’s guidance often begins with quiet shifts in the heart before becoming visible in the natural world. Seasons may change long before circumstances do, and believers are called to remain attentive to the Holy Spirit, preparing faithfully while trusting God to reveal each next step in His perfect timing.
