Residents in a quiet region of northeast Ohio are grappling with fear and uncertainty following a wave of disturbing reports involving a possible unidentified creature.
According to the New York Post, people living in Portage County—situated between Akron and Youngstown—have described hearing strange nighttime noises and discovering unusually large footprints. The reports, which began increasing in March, have sparked both local concern and wider curiosity.
Massive Tracks Raise Questions
Among the most striking details are accounts of footprints measuring approximately 17 inches in length. Based on their size, some believe the tracks could belong to a creature standing more than 7 feet tall.
Investigators working in the area have also documented unsettling audio, capturing what they describe as high-pitched screams and prolonged howls.
The reports have drawn attention from investigators who specialize in unexplained phenomena. Mike Miller, co-founder of the Ohio Nightstalkers Bigfoot Research Group, has been examining the claims locally.
“It could be rearing young in that area, or it’s just, you know, you’re in their area, and they want you to go,” Miller stated. “Some of those screams pegged higher than a baboon on the spectrograph, and that is evidence.”

Jeremiah Byron, host of the Bigfoot Society podcast, has also been reviewing the evidence from a distance, adding to the growing interest in the case. One of the hikers who claims to have seen the Sasquatch beings to Byron, “I know what I saw, but I don’t know what I saw.”
No Clear Evidence—Yet
While reports of footprints and sounds continue, no confirmed photographs or video footage have surfaced. This lack of conclusive evidence has kept experts divided and the mystery unresolved.
Skeptics point to the possibility of misidentified animals or exaggerated accounts, while others argue that the consistency of reports suggests something worth investigating further.
