Robert Morris, founder and former senior pastor of Gateway Church, has been added to the Texas sex offender registry following his release from custody, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The registry lists Morris as living in Palo Pinto County, where he is serving probation after completing a six-month jail sentence tied to the sexual abuse of Cindy Clemishire in the 1980s.
As a registered sex offender, Morris is required to comply with strict reporting rules under Texas law. These include regularly updating his residential address and other identifying details with local law enforcement, as well as maintaining accurate information in the state’s public database.

Records show Morris must verify his registration every three months for the rest of his life. That requirement places him under ongoing oversight and requires in-person or formal confirmation with authorities to remain in compliance.
The registry is publicly accessible, allowing residents to review information about individuals listed and their general location. Failure to meet registration requirements can result in additional legal penalties.
Morris’ placement on the registry continues beyond his completed jail sentence and remains a long-term condition tied to his conviction.
