In a recent video that has sparked widespread discussion, Tucker Carlson pointed to what he described as a surprising and unprecedented shift in Donald Trump’s public engagement with faith and theology.
“Donald Trump is not someone who traditionally or ever really has weighed in on questions of faith or theology or religion publicly,” Carlson said.
“Donald Trump, the same famously irreligious Donald Trump, has weighed in pretty specific ways on matters of faith and theology… in ways that are disruptive,” he continued.
Carlson framed this shift not as casual or insignificant, but as something deeper—something symbolic.
The Man of Lawlessness
As confusion and controversy grew around Trump’s recent religious imagery and statements on social media, Carlson said many Christians began turning to the Bible for clarity.
“A lot of them went to their Bibles to try and figure out what are we watching here,” he explained.
He then pointed to a well-known passage from 2 Thessalonians, describing what Scripture calls the “man of lawlessness.”
- “There will be a great rebellion against God led by that man of lawlessness.”
- “This man… will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped so that he sets himself up in God’s temple proclaiming himself to be God.”
- “He will pose as God. He will mock other gods and put himself in their place.”

For Carlson, these verses felt strikingly relevant to current events.
Echoes of Daniel’s Prophecy
He then connected those New Testament warnings to the Old Testament, specifically Daniel 11, which describes a powerful and defiant ruler in the last days.
- “A king who will do as he pleases. He will exalt and magnify himself above every god…”
- “He will say unheard of things against the God of gods.”
- “He will show no regard for any god, but will exalt himself above them all.”
These prophetic descriptions, Carlson noted, have long been associated with the rise of the coming Antichrist.
Drawing the Connection
While Carlson stopped short of making a definitive claim, he acknowledged that many see parallels.
“To a lot of Christians… these predictions… seem to fit what we were watching,” he said.
He added, “Here’s a leader who’s mocking the [God] of his ancestors… and exalting himself above them.”
The question that naturally follows is one that has stirred both curiosity and concern:
“Could this be the Antichrist? Well, who knows?”
A Moment Calling for Discernment
This moment in history reminds us how quickly biblical prophecy can enter modern political conversations when actions of world leaders appear to mirror ancient warnings. In the end, Christians must be discerning, using wisdom, clarity and Scripture as a firm foundation.
