A Florida church has been shaken to its core after the tragic death of its executive pastor.
In a post on Facebook from Nov. 26, West Palm Beach’s Journey Church shared the heartbreaking news that Pastor Joshua Rene passed away.
As a church community, we are heartbroken over the loss [of] our beloved Pastor Josh. Please pray with us for the Rene family…
As The Christian Post reported, Rene, 39, died in a motorcycle crash last week. He was a father to four children and was widely loved by his church community. Lead pastor Scott Baugh shared a video on social media, discussing the way Rene’s death has badly hit the congregation.
“I know, like so many of us, I’m hurting, and you’re hurting,” Baugh said. “When we found out that Pastor Josh was killed in that accident…it just doesn’t feel real…He was an amazing pastor, but to me, he was just Josh. He was a friend as close as a brother to me for 10 years.”
Baugh also said while Rene was a fantastic pastor, he was “even more special off that platform or stage.”
During the latest Sunday morning service, Baugh said that: “Josh didn’t live for this world alone. Josh is in the presence of Jesus right now.” He then spoke to Rene’s family and promised that Journey would come behind them and support them.
“We’re going to be there for you and your kids. We’re going to be there financially,” Baugh said.
During this time, lift up the Rene family and Journey Church in prayer as they grieve over this tremendous loss.
