The White House has confirmed that the Jeffrey Epstein victim referenced in leaked emails claiming she “spent hours” with Donald Trump was Virginia Giuffre, calling the disclosure part of a politically motivated effort to smear the president.
As reported by the Daily Mail, Democrats on the House Oversight Committee released a trove of emails between Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell, and author Michael Wolff, redacting the victim’s name from the communications. The emails suggested that “Virginia spent hours at my house” with Trump, according to a 2011 message Epstein sent to Maxwell.

The unreacted version shows that it was Virginia Guiffre.
Guiffre had testified multiple times that President Trump did nothing and that she never even saw him at Epstein's house. https://t.co/0KhX8ujPoJ pic.twitter.com/IaJkckvc1p

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt responded sharply, accusing Democrats of manipulating the material for political gain. “The Democrats selectively leaked emails to the liberal media to create a fake narrative to smear President Trump,” Leavitt said in a statement.
Leavitt identified the woman referenced as Giuffre, who she said had repeatedly cleared Trump of wrongdoing. “The ‘unnamed victim’ referenced in these emails is the late Virginia Giuffre, who repeatedly said President Trump was not involved in any wrongdoing whatsoever and ‘couldn’t have been friendlier’ to her in their limited interactions,” Leavitt said.
Giuffre, who took her own life earlier this year, was recruited by Maxwell in 2000 while working as a spa attendant at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Club. She was just 16 years old at the time. According to Leavitt, Trump expelled Epstein from his club in 2007 “for being a creep to his female employees, including Giuffre.”
In another email dated April 2, 2011, Epstein wrote to Maxwell, “I want you to realize that that dog that hasn’t barked is Trump… Virginia spent hours at my house with him.” Maxwell replied, “I have been thinking about that…” The context of their exchange remains unclear.
Additional communications between Epstein and Wolff revealed that the disgraced financier discussed his expulsion from Mar-a-Lago and even strategized about Trump’s potential response to media questions. “If we were able to craft an answer for him, what do you think it should be?” Epstein asked. Wolff responded, “I think you should let him hang himself.”
Trump has consistently denied any connection to Epstein’s crimes and recently reiterated that he banned Epstein from his properties years before the scandal erupted. Speaking aboard Air Force One during a trip to Scotland, Trump said Epstein twice hired away spa employees despite warnings, prompting him to declare the financier “persona non grata.”

The White House continues to face pressure to release Epstein-related files from the Department of Justice. Meanwhile, House Republicans have subpoenaed Maxwell, who is serving a 20-year prison sentence, as her lawyers seek immunity in exchange for potential testimony before Congress.
A vote on releasing the Epstein files is expected once lawmakers return to Washington following the government shutdown.
