A Brazilian man known in media circles as the “Living Nostradamus” is once again making headlines with a new round of predictions about global conflict, geopolitical instability and the future of the world.
According to the Daily Mail, Athos Salomé, a self-described parapsychologist, claims the world should prepare for growing tensions in two strategic regions: the Arctic and parts of Africa.
Salomé argues that melting polar ice, expanding military activity and competition over natural resources could transform the Arctic into a significant flashpoint between world powers. He also warned that instability in Africa’s Sahel region could deepen as extremist groups expand their influence and foreign nations compete for strategic control.
The Daily Mail reported that Salomé believes these developments fit a broader pattern of increasing global unrest, cyber warfare and technological competition. He says his forecasts are based on studying historical cycles, symbolic patterns and Kabbalistic traditions while comparing them with current world events.
Salomé’s popularity reflects something much deeper than fascination with one individual. It reveals a culture increasingly desperate for certainty in uncertain times.
Wars, economic instability, technological disruption and international conflict have caused many people to search for someone who appears to have answers about the future. Throughout history, figures claiming special insight into tomorrow have attracted widespread attention whenever fear and uncertainty increase.
For Christians, however, Scripture offers an important warning about seeking spiritual guidance from sources outside of biblical guidelines.

The Bible consistently cautions believers against turning to mediums, diviners, fortune tellers or occult practices in an attempt to gain hidden knowledge. Deuteronomy 18:10-12 describes such practices as detestable before the Lord, while Isaiah 8:19 asks, “Should not a people seek their God? Should they seek the dead on behalf of the living?”
That warning remains just as relevant today.
The enemy rarely deceives through obvious falsehood alone. Instead, deception often comes wrapped in a measure of apparent truth. A prediction that seems accurate can become a doorway, enticing people to place their trust in a source God never intended them to follow. Satan has long used counterfeit spiritual experiences to draw hearts away from complete dependence on the Lord.
That does not mean Christians should ignore world events or dismiss legitimate geopolitical developments. Jesus Himself instructed His followers to watch and discern the times. But biblical discernment is fundamentally different from chasing personalities who claim supernatural insight apart from God’s revealed Word.
Scripture—not sensational predictions—is the believer’s compass. The Holy Spirit—not occult practices or mystical forecasts—is the One who guides God’s people into truth.
As headlines continue to spotlight self-proclaimed prophets and predictors of world events, believers would do well to remember Paul’s instruction in 1 Thessalonians 5:21-22: “Test all things. Hold firmly to what is good. Abstain from every form of evil.”
In an age captivated by secret knowledge, Christians are called to remain anchored in the unchanging truth of God’s Word. Every prediction, every spiritual claim and every voice seeking our attention must ultimately be measured against Scripture, for it alone is the infallible standard by which truth is known.
