The revelation came during the Army’s UAS and Launched Effects Summit at Fort Rucker in August where the company demonstrated a unique manned aircraft with an unconventional design and flight pattern. “You remember that big UFO scare in New Jersey last year? Well, that was us,” an employee of the unnamed contractor told a small group after the presentation, a source told the Post.

The contractor was reportedly flying over New Jersey in November 2024 to “test out their capabilities,” the employee said. The company was not required to notify the public due to a private government contract, the Post reported.
In video provided to the Post, the roughly 20-foot-wide aircraft appeared to glide silently above the tree line astonishing soldiers on the ground. “It feels like it’s a UFO because it defies what you’re expecting to see,” a military veteran and drone expert who attended the summit told the Post. “When it turned, you almost completely lose sight of it.”
The Army enforced strict rules at the event including prohibiting any drone or aircraft containing Chinese-made parts, the source said. Fort Rucker, the Army’s Aviation Branch headquarters, could not be reached for comment.
The original wave of sightings occurred in November 2024 over Picatinny Arsenal and continued into December. At the time the Federal Aviation Administration under President Trump said many of the reported sightings were likely “hobbyists, recreational pilots and private individuals,” the Post reported.
