“The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

The Associated Press reported that Kirk had been treated in critical condition before succumbing to his injuries. Kirk co-founded Turning Point USA in 2012 at the age of 18, quickly rising to national prominence as a commentator on culture, politics and faith, while becoming a staunch ally of Trump.
Confusion remains around the suspect. According to the AP, the person initially taken into custody on campus “was not the suspect” and was release. It is unclear if authorities are still searching for the shooter.

Kirk’s death marks a significant loss to the conservative and Christian community in America. As the nation reels from another act of political violence, we must lift up Erika Kirk, the Kirk family and America in prayer, asking for comfort, healing and a renewed stand against the spirit of violence that is sweeping across the land.

We sorrow when events happen like this, and we remember to pray for comfort to those who are mourning. However, there is always another response true for Christians, which is, that Charlie is now rejoicing in the presence of the Lord.
All of us live short lives compared to eternity, so we must be ready for our time when it comes. We must stay in daily intimate relationship with the Lord through His Word and prayer.
