A new documentary highlighting revival among Generation Z premiered at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, drawing faith leaders and Christian figures who believe young people are increasingly turning to God.

“The Revival Generation,” produced by the Christian Broadcasting Network’s Abigail Robertson, debuted last Wednesday as reported by The Christian Post. The film highlights recent revivals on college campuses, including Auburn University in 2023, where thousands gathered for worship and hundreds were baptized in a campus pond despite freezing weather.

Tim Robertson, son of the late CBN founder Pat Robertson, said young people are rejecting the instability of the values passed down to them. “Young people are looking at some of the values they’ve been given from a very permissive generation that’s older, and they want to find some stability in their lives,” he said. “And obviously Christianity gives them that stability, and it gives them a rock and an anchor.”

Ralph Reed, founder of the Faith & Freedom Coalition, said financial pressures and cultural challenges are pushing this generation toward faith. “I think this is the toughest time to be a young person entering the workforce, seeking to buy your first home and begin your career, since the stagflation of the 1970s,” he said. “So I think there’s a reason why they’re turning to God.”

The film also spotlights the UniteUS movement founded by Tonya Prewett, whose daughter battled addiction and suicidal thoughts. Prewett said she hopes the film will stir faith in viewers. “I hope it will ignite something inside of them: number one, to get saved; number two, to know that they have a purpose; and number three, to make a difference where they are,” she said.

Robertson said the film shows how Gen Z is encountering faith in a unique way. “Gen Z is a generation that loves authenticity, and that is why they love the Gospel message,” she said. “They feel the love of Jesus Christ, and that’s what they want. They want more of it. It feels real, it’s authentic.”
