The argument for an abortion when a mother’s life is in danger is no longer valid. At least it’s not if you believe leading medical experts presenting their study findings at the International Symposium on Maternal Health held in Dublin, Ireland.
Experts in obstetrics and gynecology, mental health and molecular biology concluded that direct abortion is not medically necessary to save the life of a woman with high-risk pregnancy, cancer in pregnancy or other issues.
“We uphold that there is a fundamental difference between abortion, and necessary medical treatments that are carried out to save the life of the mother—even if such treatment results in the loss of life of her unborn child,” the group said. “We confirm that the prohibition of abortion does not affect, in any way, the availability of optimal care to pregnant women.”
Judie Brown, president and cofounder of American Life League, is not surprised. Time and time again she said, research continues to debunk the false arguments and propaganda used to justify the murder and dehumanization of preborn children.
“The latest data presented at the international scientific symposium validate the position that American Life League has maintained since our inception: Abortion is not needed to save a mother’s life,” Brown said. “While celebrating these results, we must continue to fight for and uphold the dignity of every human being’s life. We must always defend and promote the preborn’s inherent right to life.”
