What are the mountains blocking your way to prosperity, good health or what God has called you to do?
Trusting in the Lord to bring about good is essential to receiving what we are believing for, no matter how big it may be or how long it may take. The good things God has planned for us can sometimes take time to come to pass. It’s a process. Yet His desire is always that we would succeed in life. That’s a lesson I have learned through experience.
And it’s a lesson that my friend and fellow minister, Marilyn Hickey, has learned too. Marilyn and I have known each other for a long time. In fact, her mother received healing from the Lord while watching my father, Oral Roberts, on television. Recently, she and I talked about the power of holding onto faith until we receive everything the Lord has for us.
“I believe I got hold of the Word of God early and got faith teaching and began to speak His promises to problems. And I began to move mountains,” says Marilyn.
Jesus said if we have faith, even if it’s only the size of a mustard seed, the tiniest of seeds, we can still speak to mountains in our life and see them move out of our way (Matt. 17:20).
“I learned that at the early part of my ministry,” Marilyn says. “I have learned if you really want to do things for God, you just can’t let the enemy stop you. You’ve got to stay in faith. I memorize books of the Bible, and feed my faith a lot, and get what’s on the other side of the mountain.”
That faith to obtain the miraculous is clear in everything Marilyn does. She’s ministered for more than 40 years, in 126 countries around the world. And she’s still going! When asked what keeps her going, she says, “It’s not over until you win.”
With faith and persistence like that, we can do whatever it is that the Lord puts in our hearts. Through Him, all things are possible … if we’ll only believe it!
For Marilyn, God has made possible what would seem impossible to many—sharing the Gospel in Muslim countries such as Pakistan, where she conducted the largest healing meeting in that nation’s history. With a million people in attendance, it was an unprecedented outreach to a part of the world that many Christians have thought unreachable. But with the faith to move mountains, we can do anything through Christ who strengthens us.
“Muslims believe Jesus heals,” says Marilyn. “They have an expectancy that Jesus heals. So I just teach one miracle of Jesus. I keep it simple, very simple. They come and they’re healed. One of the biggest miracles I’ve seen was a little boy born without an eye receive a new eye. That’s a big deal!”
Marilyn is speaking to the mountain to move and believing to see and receive what is on the other side of the mountain. It is safe to say that she is not ready to quit.
We can all walk in faith that way. It’s not just for ministers of the Gospel. Standing in faith and receiving God’s victory is for every Christian. It is for you, if you will believe the promises of God in faith. With God, it is not over until we win.
