Pastor: Material Possessions Aren’t a True Blessing

Pastor Rich Wilkerson Jr. says obedience to God is key to experiencing a flourishing life. That doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll be wealthy, because material possessions aren’t a true blessing, he says. Rather, true blessings are spiritual.

“The quicker you can obey, the quicker you’re going to walk into blessing,” Wilkerson says. “Now, we should define the classic use of the word ‘blessed.’ I’m not talking about some surface, short-term physical stuff. Blessing isn’t just you getting a bigger house and you having more money in your bank. Nothing wrong with that stuff, but that’s not a true blessing.

“I’ve learned that God’s greatest blessings aren’t physical—they’re spiritual. Some of the best blessings God has done in my life did not happen from the outside in, but rather, they happened from the inside out. He revealed something, He produced something in me to push me into my future.”
