Something hidden from public view is preparing to reemerge—and Jonathan Cahn believes Christians should pay close attention.

During a recent appearance on “The Roseanne Barr Podcast,” Cahn revealed that the ancient Altar of Pergamon, which he links to some of the darkest spiritual and historical movements of the modern age, is expected to be unveiled to the public again in Berlin in June 2027.

For Cahn, the timing carries an ominous echo.

“They’re going to release it to the world this coming year,” Cahn said, noting that the altar is currently being kept from public view. “They said right now it’s going to be in June.”

Cahn immediately pointed back to another moment when the altar was unveiled—in 1930, as Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party were beginning their explosive ascent in Germany.

That connection forms part of the mystery explored in Cahn’s new book, “The Altar of Pergamon.” The ancient city of Pergamum is famously addressed in Revelation 2:13 as the place “where Satan’s throne is.”

Cahn argues that the massive altar associated with ancient Pergamon reflects a spiritual pattern spanning generations. He traced its excavation and movement to Germany and later connected its history with the rise of Nazism, communism, antisemitism and other forces hostile to Jews, Israel and biblical faith.

His warning becomes particularly striking in light of what happened to him aboard American Airlines Flight 618.

As Charisma previously reported, Cahn was the passenger attacked during the bizarre midair episode that forced the plane to divert to Baltimore.

Cahn told Barr that he had been having a friendly conversation with the man seated beside him for roughly two hours. Eventually, Cahn began sharing about Jesus, salvation and supernatural experiences in his own life. According to Cahn, the man’s demeanor suddenly changed.

Cahn described the incident as spiritual warfare.

“I don’t know where the guy’s at,” Cahn said. “I have no idea.”

Cahn says the encounter itself was demonic, and that it intensified when the cover of “The Altar of Pergamon” appeared on his laptop screen. The passenger eventually became violent, Cahn said, and the confrontation ended with other passengers restraining the man and the aircraft making an emergency landing.

For Cahn, what happened at 30,000 feet and what he is warning about concerning Pergamon carry the same underlying message: The spiritual realm is not an abstraction.

“The whole thing was a spiritual war,” Cahn said of the flight.

But Cahn’s message is not ultimately one of fear.

With the altar expected to emerge again in 2027, he urged believers to remember who ultimately holds authority. “If the devil’s real,” Cahn said, “then God is more real.”

And for Christians experiencing unusual resistance, Cahn offered another warning: Do not automatically assume opposition means defeat.

“If you’re in God’s will,” he said, “don’t get discouraged.”

Cahn believes spiritual resistance can actually accompany something God intends to use powerfully. After experiencing that resistance himself on Flight 618, he tells believers something simple: recognize the battle, stand firm and refuse to retreat.

“We are going to overcome,” Cahn said. “We are going to win.”
