I like to be Spirit-led. When a situation confronts me, I like to stop and breathe a minute and seek the Holy Spirit’s guidance.
It can be simple things, such as directions or how to orchestrate my day; or more complex, when people seek advice and wisdom from me.
When situations arise during your day or when you are facing challenges, do you act or react? Do you act, by taking action and seeking the Holy Spirit for immediate direction or spending time in prayer; or do you react, act out in the flesh and create your natural answer or solution?
We should be Spirit-led at all times. Our life is not our own; it belongs to the one on the throne.
Our goal should be to present and represent Jesus at all times. We should present the kingdom of God to our solutions, challenges and daily tasks. And we should represent love at all times; that means our solution should include one of a love-based answer.
I recently got a puppy. There are many ways to train a puppy. I’ve heard from sources that when a puppy jumps up on you, a couch or something else, you should push them down hard, so they get the message that isn’t acceptable.
I like what my vet said recently. She advised me to take a positive approach to train. She said, “The puppy will want to please you.” I applied that to my meditation time and came out with a love-based approach.
I instructed my family that we were going to train the puppy based on love, and based on the wisdom I discovered through my prayer and meditation time. Most people would have turned on YouTube and found some puppy-training videos, and while we did do this, we desired training based on positive actions.
I sought the Holy Spirit for even a simple thing as how to train a puppy. I didn’t go on the natural of what other pet owners had taught me; I went based on the Spirit. This is one of the many ways we can seek the Lord in all things.
Every morning when I rise, I seek the Lord. I allow Him to speak to me about things quietly. Today, He revealed to me a change that my accountant wanted me to make in my business is not what I should do.
I didn’t pray about it yet—I hadn’t had the chance, though I’m sure I would have. However, positioning my life to be led by the Spirit, He revealed that I really didn’t want to make that change. It would not be beneficial to the corporations I had established.
We need to be led by the Spirit at all times. He will guide, instruct and lead us in the right direction. He will save us time, prevent us from making mistakes and save our money by not having us make unwise decisions.
Many of us say we are led by the Spirit, but are we? I know some people in my inner circle and my family who are strong Christians, but they do not pray about things the way I do.
I want to challenge you today to take a step back and look at what you are acting out through prayer and discover where you are reacting in the flesh or the natural. Take a step back and allow the Spirit to lead and guide you in all things. {eoa}
