Do you have some spiritual giants that need to be taken down?
I love the story of David and Goliath in the Bible; it’s one of my favorites. Mostly, I love seeing Jesus as my champion giant killer and reminding my Goliaths about my King!
Recently I had a conversation with a fellow prophetic minister and revivalist, Ryan Bastress of Wake Ministries, and we talked about how the killing of giants in 2020 were key to seeing all God had prophesied to us personally about revival and ministry coming to pass. This past year was a year like no other, and despite the discouragement of all that was lost, much more will be gained because of the battles we faced. David repeatedly made statements to Goliath, and it is time to make some statements back to your Goliaths today.
Those uncircumcised Philistines who are blocking your path to what the Lord has personally promised you must fall when you throw the stones of grace at them.
Learn how being covenant conscious is the key to taking down every giant of sickness, lack and discouragement in your life. Let’s go to the story of David and Goliath in 1 Samuel 17:4-11:
There went out a champion from the camp of the Philistines, Goliath was his name, from Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span. He had a helmet of bronze on his head, and he was armed with a coat of mail. Now the weight of the bronze coat was five thousand shekels. He had greaves of bronze on his legs and a bronze javelin between his shoulders. The staff of his spear was like a weaver’s beam. His iron spearhead weighed six hundred shekels. And a shield-bearer was walking before him.
He stood and called out to the ranks of Israel, “Why have you come out to line up for battle? Am not I the Philistine, and you the servants of Saul? Choose for yourselves a man and let him come down to me. If he is able to fight with me and to strike me down, then we will be your servants. But if I prevail against him and strike him down, then you will be our servants and will serve us.” The Philistine said, “I defy the battle lines of Israel this day. Give me a man, and let us fight together.” When Saul and all Israel heard these words of the Philistine, they were filled with terror and were greatly afraid.
David repeatedly made these statements back to Goliath after he had taunted the army of Israel for 40 days and nights. David repeatedly calls Goliath, “you uncircumcised Philistine.” To the untrained eye, it just looks like David is calling Goliath a name, but he is repeatedly reminding Goliath that he has no covenant with God.
Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, a spear, and a shield, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of Hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have reviled. This day will the Lord deliver you into my hand. And I will strike you down and cut off your head. Then I will give the corpses of the Philistine camp this day to the birds of the air and to the beasts of the earth so that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. And then all this assembly will know that it is not by sword and spear that the Lord saves. For the battle belongs to the Lord, and He will give you into our hands” (1 Sam. 17:45-47).
It is time to remind your giants who you are in covenant with, the King of kings and Lord of lords! There is no one higher than Jesus, no other name by which men are saved.
“There is no salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).
It’s time to tell your giants about your Savior Jesus! Hallelujah! Jesus is King and not your Goliath. Learn how being covenant-of-grace minded is the key to taking down every Goliath in your life.
