Jesus didn’t only purchase your salvation; He purchased your deliverance.
I am so thankful for the complete work of the cross. Jesus endured an excruciating death for us. I like to tell people if we don’t receive the finished work of the cross, we are saying what Jesus endured doesn’t have any impact. What Jesus did was powerful and had a great impact! How do we receive the finished work of the cross? It is by knowing what the work of the cross completed.
We know that Jesus purchased our salvation so that when we accept Him as our Lord and Savior, we can live with Him forever. We will trade these earthly bodies in for glorious heavenly bodies! We will get to worship Him forever and dwell with Him, but our victory is not only in the next life, but it is also in this life.
When Jesus went to the cross, He didn’t only purchase our salvation; He purchased our deliverance. When you study the word “salvation,” it means “deliverance.” Deliverance is freedom from the bondages that hold us back from walking in victory! We need deliverance from things such as rejection, abandonment and unworthiness. Jesus came so we don’t have to life with unhealthy emotions and demonic entities trying to infiltrate our soul.
When we look at the cross, we shouldn’t see it as a get out of jail free card that will cause us to end up in heaven instead of hell someday. We need to see the cross as the victory we can live in every moment of the day. We need to see the cross as a means to overcome the strongholds in our lives. Jesus overcame the devil, and now we must overcome demonic activity trying to penetrate our minds and our souls.
The Bible says, “Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not only in my presence but so much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling” (Phi. 2:12). Again here, “salvation” means “deliverance.” Therefore, Jesus purchased our deliverance, but now we need to work it out. We need to walk it out and seek inner healing and deliverance. He took your pain, your torment and your abuse to the cross. He nailed to the cross pride, lust, fear and everything that has ever plagued you and is currently traumatizing you. He took it and purchased your full freedom.
In order to receive your freedom, there are often emotional ailments we need to overcome. Often, our own mind is the battlefield we can’t overcome. Thoughts plague our mind that we entertain and allow to roll over in our mind instead of dismissing them. We need to take every thought captive (2 Cor. 10:4-5) and subject it to the Word of God. As the Complete Jewish Bible states, “Make it obey Christ.” When we subject lying spirits that are attacking us to the Word of God, we are then walking out our salvation, or as it really means, “our deliverance.”
As you press forward and experience Jesus in your life, remember that He didn’t only purchase your salvation; that is one portion of the cross. He purchased your salvation, your life so you could live with Him forever. He purchased your healing, so you can live physically whole, completely healed, and He purchased your deliverance, your emotional freedom from thoughts that plague your mind and from demonic spirits that attempt to infiltrate your soul. Learn about how the enemy attempts to infiltrate your soul in my books Identity Invasion and Discerning and Destroying the Works of Satan. Jesus came to heal, set free and deliver us. Accept the complete finished work of the cross that He has given you and receive what He purchased in the fullness. {eoa}
