In John 16:7b (ESV), Jesus makes what seems like a confusing statement. Only days before His death on the cross, He tells His disciples it is “to your advantage that I go away.” But in the rest of the verse, He explains the reason behind His words: “For if I do not go away, the Counselor will not come to you. But if I go, I will send Him to you.”
The Counselor, of course, is the Holy Spirit, who fills, equips and empowers believers. Yet many of us overlook His important ministry in our lives.
