In today’s world, when people hear the word influence or influencer they think of celebrities, CEOs or social media stars. But what we need to realize is that you don’t need to be at the top of an organizational chart or have a blue checkmark by your name to carry influence. God can use you right where you are. In fact, He has positioned you perfectly to make an impact and to be a blessing. One issue is that sometimes we don’t recognize the areas in our lives that God has given us influence, and another is that many of us simply don’t know how to make use of our influence.
So what is influence? Influence is the impact that you can make on a situation or another person. This is not something you gain instantly, but something you that grow in, because influence requires relationships, and true relationships take time. Here are three practical ways to help you grow in the influence that God is giving you:
— Grow with God. Since influence is all about relationships, it’s important that your relationship with Jesus is the foundation for every other relationship in your life. He can teach you how to treat others. He can lead you into the wisdom and revelation you need.
— Build Trust. In order to use your influence as a blessing to others, you must lead with integrity. If someone doesn’t trust you, they won’t be able to receive from you. You can build trust by listening to people and creating a space where they feel they are accepted and understood.
— Use Your Experience. The journey God has taken you on is intentional. The things you have gone through, both good and bad, have taught you things and given you wisdom that you can use to help others. Be real. People will be drawn to your authenticity and your willingness to share your story.
Don’t underestimate the influence that you carry. God wants to use you to make a difference in the lives of the people around you. To hear more practical tips on how to increase your influence listen to Transform Your Life on the Charisma Podcast Network. {eoa}
