A tsunami warning has been issued for approximately 300 miles of coastline along northern California and parts of Oregon following a powerful earthquake off the coast of California. Experts estimate its strength to be between 7.0 and 7.3, raising significant concerns about potential waves threatening the area.
The San Francisco Fire Department has urged residents to move to safety, advising that individuals seek higher ground—at least 100 feet above sea level—or move one mile inland. “You are in danger. Get away from coastal waters. Move to high ground or inland now,” the emergency alert stated, emphasizing the urgency of the situation. Residents are being asked to avoid the ocean and evacuate low-lying areas immediately.
