The word “salvation” means deliverance. It means far more than just being forgiven of sin and restored to a right relationship with God. It means deliverance from any negative or evil thing encountered in this world including demonic plots, personal failure and mortality.
Definition of Salvation
“But to which of the angels, did He say at any time, ‘Sit on My right hand until I make Your enemies Your footstool?’ Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to minister to those who will inherit salvation?” (Heb. 1:13-14).
The word “salvation” means deliverance: from enemies, from sin, from satanic powers, from the lower nature, from the curse, from mortality and from eternal destruction.
The word is found 148 times in the Modern English Version of the Bible (104 times in the Old Testament, 44 times in the New Testament).
Often it has nothing to do with the forgiveness of sin and cleansing of the soul.
“Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today” (Ex. 14:13b, NKJV).
In prison Paul wrote:
“For I know that through your prayer and the support of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, this will result in my deliverance” (Phil. 1:19, MEV).
Salvation Is Triune in Nature, Just Like Conversion
See Titus 3:5, James 1:21 and Hebrews 9:28.
God Is Our Savior
“I, even I, am the Lord, and besides Me there is no savior” (Isa. 43:11).
See also John 10:9 and Isaiah 45:22.
“She will bear a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, [Yeshua—salvation] for He will save His people from their sin” (Matt. 1:21).
Salvation Is a Gift
“For by grace you have been saved through faith” (Eph. 2:8a).
“Saved” also translated to heal, preserve, made whole (KJV), get well.
“Is anyone sick among you? … the prayer of faith will save the sick” (Jam. 5:14a-15a).
Ultimate Salvation
“All the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God” (Isa. 52:10b).
See also Hebrews 9:28 (KJV) and Revelation 7:10.
