There is nothing wrong with the fear of the Lord. As a matter of fact, you should ask God to fill you with a healthy fear of the Lord.. The fear you desire is not one of “I am scared I am not saved,” as that mindset brings torment. The Bible says perfect love casts out fear (see 1 John 4:18). But the fear of the Lord is not to be confused with this love.

From my perspective, I have a great fear of the Lord. The fear I speak of means reverence. I revere Him so much that the very thought of grieving the Holy Spirit puts a deep sadness and fear in me. That’s the type of fear I am talking about: respect, honor and reverence.
We have to get back to those principles. The reality is that we need to stop coming to God irreverently. He is not your buddy or your bro; He is your Lord. He deserves and commands all of our honor. He is our King. Jesus is not your homeboy. He is the King of kings, the Lord of lords. When we come before His presence, we will not be able to stand. We will fall to the floor on our knees before Him, casting our crowns upon His precious feet.

That doesn’t mean He is not our Abba, our heavenly Father and friend. Of course He is our friend, but He is a friend whom we must reverently fear. God is so holy that He sent Christ to die and shed His blood for our sins.
Sin cannot stand in the presence of the holiness of God. God is so pure, so very holy, without spot or blemish, that at His very sight of sin, it is consumed.
