Dr. John Perkins is a civil rights activist focused on reconciliation through the gospel of Jesus Christ.
If not for Perkins, the Jackson Leadership Foundation would likely not exist. Perkins connected Samuel Bolen, founder of JLF, to the global Leadership Foundation network. This is a Christian organization focused on providing leadership training and resources to ministry partners within a particular city. For Bolen, that city is Jackson, Mississippi.
According to Bolen, many ministry leaders do good work. But they would rather do great work. They have the passion and vision, but they do not necessarily have the executive experience they need. Bolen’s work is focused on empowering leaders to do the work they have been called to do more effectively.
Another exciting feature of JLF is that the organization partners ministries with “resource communities.” Practically, this means connecting Christian ministry in under-resourced communities with churches who want to be involved in ministry but don’t know how to get involved.
Bolen’s work is a continuation of Perkins’s life and ministry—bringing people of different backgrounds together in service to—and in the name of—Jesus Christ.
