One of the most high-profile, outspoken, freedom-fighting and influential conservative members of the U.S. House of Representatives is a Spirit-filled, Charismatic Christian.
Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert (R) stepped into the pulpit as a guest speaker at Cornerstone Christian Center in Basalt, Colorado, this past weekend, celebrated the overturning of Roe v. Wade as answered prayer, and boldly declared, “We need the Holy Spirit.”
But she wasn’t there to talk about politics. “I really can’t stand politics,” says Congresswoman Boebert, who expressed her passion for truth, freedom and living in the resurrection power of Christ. “This isn’t about Republicans and Democrats. This is about good and evil. This is about right and wrong.”
The presence of a Charismatic Christian in the U.S. Congress demonstrates once again that God is putting His Spirit-led daughters (and sons) with the Esther anointing into positions of authority to save lives, push back spiritual darkness and turn the United States back to the Lord.
Jim Tarr, senior pastor of the Cornerstone Christian Center, says of Boebert, “She lives her faith in Jesus Christ out loud. She is not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ.”
Although she asked the Lord Jesus into her heart as a young girl, it was not until after Boebert got married and started to have children that something changed, and as a result, she was transformed into a powerhouse: she was baptized in the Holy Spirit and experienced power, spiritual discernment, deeper understanding and tremendous boldness. Her life forever changed, and she became a vessel for the power of God to come through.
Exuding leadership qualities aligned with biblical values, Congresswoman Boebert honored Pastor Tarr, publicly recognizing his courage to challenge government overreach as a citizen protected by the U.S. Constitution by continuing to assemble as the body of Christ amid lockdowns, and defying the government-directed mask mandates for children at his Christian school when it was not in the best interest of the children. “I commend your pastor [Jim Tarr] for taking a stand against [government] overreach,” she says.
“There are a lot of forces in the world that would like to keep people in bondage, keep them captive, restrict their liberty, but that is not what our nation was created for,” says Boebert. “I believe there are two nations that have been created to glorify God: Israel, whom we bless, and the United States of America. And this nation will glorify God.”
But she had another wake-up call for believers: “Politics, politicians, government—it doesn’t matter if you aren’t interested in those things, because they are interested in you,” she says.
“You’d better get interested if you want a say in what is happening in your life. We have seen that they will try to control every aspect of your life: what you can wear, what you have to cover, what time you can go to the grocery store, if your kids can go to school, if you can assemble in church, if you can petition your government.”
She continues, “The most important way you can get involved is through your words. Your words are powerful on so many levels. To show up and speak out. To be bold. To contradict those who would limit freedom and supersede the laws of the land and those who seek to do harm on our nation and our children. Show up and speak out.
“We have to start speaking life. You have resurrection power on the inside of you. And to speak that resurrection life into situations that seem dead, lifeless, hopeless; that is the basis of what we are called to do.”
Rep. Boebert shared her personal testimony at Cornerstone on Sunday, June 26, setting the record straight about who she is, what she stands for, and how her faith walk with the Holy Spirit led her to Congress. She smashed all the misconceptions and false accusations that politically driven deceivers have used to try to malign her and create a fake narrative.
The Colorado representative cited John 10:10 in her message at the local church: “The thief comes to steal, kill and destroy. But Jesus came so you may have life, and life more abundantly, life to the overflow.”
Smiling, Boebert says, “We serve a good God.”
The life that God led her to pursue in the political arena is not, however, one she chose or even wanted.
“I argued with God for three days,” she recalls, reflecting on when she was called to run for Congress. “It’s so interesting how He answered my argument. God didn’t agree with all these things that I saw as disqualifying. Instead, He pointed out something that He had put on the inside of me, something I had not recognized as a God quality, as something that God had given me. He spoke to me, and He said, ‘I created you with spontaneity, so when I say go, you go.’ That arrested my spirit. I had always seen my spontaneity as a weakness.” She adds, “To hear that He created me with that on purpose meant something.”
She preached fearlessly at Cornerstone Christian Center, even when delivering a message that was not comfortable.
“If you can do what you’re doing in your own strength, without the help of God, without the blood of Jesus, without the Holy Ghost leading you, guiding you, talking you through each and every day, it may not be the plan of God. You cannot do God’s will on your own. The anointing of God will take us further than our character can keep us. That anointing pierces through the darkness and makes a way.”
She admits that she felt “unqualified” to be a U.S. Representative, but God qualified her and opened the doors for her.
“I love Jesus,” says Boebert, “and if there was something else He would have called me to, I would have done that with just as much enthusiasm … but this is where He called me.”
She won her election to Congress and is living out her greater purpose, with much more work to be done. But she admits that there are obstacles along the way.
“There will be circumstances that try to throw you off course,” she says. “Messengers from Satan. Do you think I have some of those? Help me, Jesus.”
She will face a showdown today (Tuesday, June 28) in a primary election. Not only does she have a Republican challenger who is reportedly more “centrist” on the political spectrum, but the New York Times has also reported that thousands of Democrats plan to vote as “Republicans” against Boebert so her primary challenger would win in an artificial way.
However, this Spirit-led leader will not be deterred. Speaking prophetically, Rep. Boebert says, “We may think that God has just taken His hand off our nation and said, ‘Let them have it.’ The chaos that we see, the crises that we see, most seem intentional and by design to cause more confusion, more strife, more chaos, more division. But this is a set-apart time for us to position ourselves to begin to turn this nation. Look at what happened this week.”
She pointed to the overturning of the 1973 court decision that had made abortion a scourge on America.
“Forty-nine years of Roe v. Wade. Forty-nine years. Sixty-three million children lost,” she says. “And because God called a man [President Trump] who is not a politician to run for office, and I believe he was anointed for that position. He answered that call, despite what other people were saying, despite all the negatives they were listing, saying how unqualified he was. He said, ‘I think I can do something good for this nation.’ And three Supreme Court justices were installed.”
“Five years from now, we can look back and see children running and laughing, with smiles on their faces, going to school, children who would not have had the opportunity to live,” she continues. “There is still work to be done here in Colorado, but this is the fruit of your labor, of your votes and of your prayers. This is your harvest.”
She goes on to say, “To end this at a federal level and give it back to the states. The mission is clear. We know where we need to hone in. We know where we need to work overtime to continue to save lives. Today, lives are being saved because of that decision. This is the second day that we woke up in a post-Roe nation. Glory to God.”
