According to the Bible, here are 5 main roles of a Christian wife.
1. As a partner who rules over creation (Gen. 1:27-28)
Scripture doesn’t say that a wife is to rule over her husband, nor that the wife is to be ruled by her husband. She was made to be a partner and together they have dominion over God’s creation (Gen. 2:22).
2. To help her husband
God created a wife to help her husband because he was designed to need help (Gen. 2:20).
“Helper” in Hebrew is ezer, meaning “a person who provides needed help and assistance.” God has given wives gifting’s and abilities that contribute to the husband’s success and to him as a person.
3. As the crown of her husband
Ephesians 5:23 states that the husband is the head of the wife. Proverbs 12:4 says the wife is the crown (not the neck) or can be a cancer to her husband.
4. To submit to her husband (Eph. 5:22-24)
Submission is specific to married women submitting to their husbands in marriage (1 Pet. 3:1). “Submission” from the Greek hypo tasso means to place or arrange under.
God set these rules in relationships, not to limit and control us, but to empower both women and men to be equal partners, with a chain of command to live in a perfect community.
5. As a builder of the home
God wants women to edify the homes and help raise godly families (Titus 2:4-5).
If you can financially, it is absolutely worth it to invest your time into raising your children, instead of allowing the culture to educate them.
May your marriage grow strong based on the principles written in Scripture.
