Many others believed He would be like Moses or Judas the Maccabee.
“The disciples struggled with that,” Buckingham said. “As Jesus’ crucifixion drew nearer, they began to realize that Jesus was not the Messiah the rabbis had taught them to expect. He was more like the Messiah prophesied by the prophet Isaiah 700 years before His birth.”
