Zohran Mamdani’s tenure as Mayor of New York City has proven to be the disaster that many predicted. Beyond his policies, it’s the underlying spirit driving him that should alarm every American who values our nation’s foundational principles.

Mamdani is an avowed democratic socialist with roots in radical leftist ideology, and as New York City’s first Muslim mayor, he has aligned himself with causes that many see as hostile to traditional American values. He has vocally supported pro-Palestinian activism, including groups and protests that have glorified or downplayed the horrors of the Oct. 7, 2023, attacks on Israel—acts of terrorism involving mass murder and rape that shocked the world.

He has also encouraged and amplified street protests by far-left activists, contributing to the chaos that has overtaken parts of the city.

A recent incident highlights this troubling pattern: In late Jan. 2026, Jabez Chakraborty, allegedly advanced on NYPD officers with a large kitchen knife in his Queens home, ignoring commands to drop the weapon. An officer shot him in self-defense after he pushed through a door they were using as cover. Chakraborty was later indicted for attempted assault on a police officer and weapon possession.

Rather than standing with the wounded officer, Mayor Mamdani visited the hospitalized suspect and publicly questioned the police response, objecting to the handling of the incident and appearing to side against law enforcement. He has even called for attempted murder charges to be reduced; his stance has fueled outrage over misplaced priorities—prioritizing the assailant over the hero who risked his life to protect others.

This isn’t merely leftist politics; it reflects a deeper spiritual conflict. As 1 John 2:18 and 4:3 warn, we are in the last days, marked by many antichrists—spirits that deny the Father and the Son. Islam, which explicitly denies the divinity of Jesus Christ and the Triune God, embodies this antichrist spirit in its theology. While Mayor Mamdani is not the prophesied final Antichrist (the son of perdition), but he is filled with the same deceptive spirit at work.

Shortly before Mamdani’s election in Nov. 2025, the Lord visited me with a prophetic visitation. In it, He revealed that this was a diabolical plot to place Mamdani in New York City to lay the groundwork for what will come after him. His election was no accident—it fits a broader pattern where demographic changes create powerful voting blocs aligned more with religious doctrine than with the U.S. Constitution or biblical values.

Islam has spread historically through conquest and, in modern times, through migration, high birth rates and demographic shifts. In Europe, entire neighborhoods have been transformed, with Western culture subordinated in some areas. Here in the U.S., cities like Minneapolis, Dearborn and now New York are seeing growing Islamic influence. Some Muslim communities practice unofficial polygamy to skirt laws, leading to larger families whose children are raised in the faith—potentially shifting electoral power in a generation.

We’ve already seen early signs: A prominent activist tied to pro-Palestinian circles recently posted (satirically or not) that “NYC is coming to Islam” and suggested dogs—America’s beloved “man’s best friend”—don’t belong indoors because they are considered unclean in some Islamic teachings. This sparked backlash, including from critics who tied it to Mamdani’s administration, highlighting fears of cultural erosion just 25 years after 9/11.

This is a spiritual battle. Christians must wake up, put on the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18), and engage—not just in prayer, but in bold action. The loudest voices in school boards, city councils, and public squares often belong to the left, but volume doesn’t equal majority. We cannot be intimidated into silence.

America was founded on Judeo-Christian principles. We must speak truth in love, defend our heritage, and resist any ideology that seeks to undermine it—whether through policy, demographics, or spiritual deception. The gates are under siege; it’s time to stand firm. I talk more about these spirits at work in our nation today in my newest book, “Defeating Darkness: A Handbook For Spiritual Warfare & Overcoming Demonic Schemes.” Be sure to grab your copy today.
