Jesus once said when His disciples approached Him and asked Him about prayer that His Father was seeking worshipers who worship in spirit and in truth.
When I first read that passage, I felt somewhat heartbroken and baffled, wondering why the Lord Jesus said that He was still looking for worshipers in spirit and in truth. Then the answer came to me as if God was reading my thoughts, and He whispered to my ears and said, “My son, many are church-goers but few are worshipers.”
Then I understood the importance of what it is to be a worshiper and the clear difference between being a church member and a worshiper. Many people say that they worship at such and such a church, but what they really mean is that they attend church. Many raise their hands, jump up and down, give their offerings and tithes, but they don’t quite make it all the way to the Holy of Holies or the most intimate place, where the Father desires His people to come for fresh manna from heaven.
As many of you know, God works in patterns and these patterns are often revealed to prophets and common men to bring them down to earth and make them a reality. Before there was ever a temple on earth, there was one in heaven, as it is explained to us in Revelation 8:1-4. Here we read about the activities in the temple in heaven, which reflects Old Testament worship.
Before there was dance, worship, flags, praise instruments and other things, there was a revelation of these tools of worship, and they were implemented in our worship practice on Earth. What I am trying to say is that someone must have seen a vision or had a dream before these instruments came about. Most people that have had visions of heaven, including myself, have seen these amazing instruments, which were being used in heavenly worship also being replicated and used on Earth.
My point is that the tabernacle used in Moses’ time, the temple Solomon built and the temple in Jesus’ day were patterned after the temple that is in heaven. The most intricate architectural pattern ever given to men was the Ark of the Covenant and Noah’s ark. Both were magnificently built and perfect right down to the last piece of wood.
However, both these divinely engineered projects were designed to speak of the glory and greatness of our God! When we talk about worship, we are actually speaking of one of the most renown and oldest patterns ever revealed to men. God breathed His breath upon music and everything that is created has some sort of sound in it.
The right combination of sounds makes a perfect and pleasant melody. Recently, NASA discovered that there is a unique sound that every planet makes when listened to through special technology. What is fascinating is that the sound our Planet Earth makes is the one of a mother giving birth. The earth is waiting for the manifestation of the children of God, just as mentioned in the Scriptures: “For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God” (Rom. 8:19, KJV).
Worship did not originate on Earth, since God had a great orchestra playing for HIM in heaven. Do you want to know how powerful worship is? Let’s talk about the one who was thrown out of heaven because of pride, but also because he wanted the worship God only deserves. That’s right; Lucifer had an ego trip, and his pride reached a limit that God Himself had to expel the most beautiful angel He had created and the one who was in charge of leading others in worship. What I am saying is that Lucifer, “Satan,” knows how powerful worship is and that is why he was kicked out of heaven. (See Ezekiel 28:16-17.)
He has been trying for generations and generations to corrupt the most wonderful and powerful resource that was meant for our Father God alone! Ever since that event took place, there has been a battle between the enemy and man. What many of us don’t realize is that the enemy is constantly battling against us because he knows that we are God’s most precious creation.
I want you to realize today the enemy knows what God deeply desires and is moved by “worship,” and that’s the reason he rebelled and deceived a third of the angels, wanting to create his own empire and be worshiped by them. God longs for worshipers in spirit and truth, and that’s the reason why there are angels up there singing and playing instruments 24/7.
However, when the worship sound comes from the Earth and when His creation adores Him, He literally stops every instrument and singing angel just to hear His creation’s melody, as we all stand from every corner of this world and give Him praise. In fact, the Bible says that we were created to worship, and if so, then there is great importance in the exercise and act of worship. It is very relevant in heaven and so it should be on Earth. God longs to hear the worship of His worshipers. {eoa}
