He was the power behind General Zahedi. He presided over the arming and strengthening of Hamas leading up to the October 7, invasion. His name was Ebrahim Raisi.

The Butcher of Teheran

Raisi was the president of Iran under Ayatollah Khamenei. Thus he was even more critical than Zahedi as an agent of chaos in the region and in the leading of factions and proxies working for Israel’s destruction. He too was an instrument of the Sar Paras.

As the Sar Paras is an entity bent on death, Raisi was infamous among his own people as a minister of death. They called him the “Butcher of Teheran.” He was responsible for the brutal repression of Iranian dissidents. He served as a judge in the Iranian Death Commission. He would be accused of sentencing without a trial thousands of innocent Iranians to their deaths. He would be cited for committing crimes against humanity. And he was the president of Iran when Iran launched its missile attack on the land of Israel.

The Other Sar Paras

The word sar can be rendered as chief, ruler, or leader. Thus Sar Paras can be translated as Ruler of Iran or the Iranian Leader. Under the Ayatollah, Raisi was ruler and leader of Iran—a Sar Paras. But there was more to it. Raisi, a shortened form of a longer surname, is a Persian word based on an Arabic title. Sar is the Hebrew word for chief or ruler. Raisi means chief and ruler. And as his name corresponds with the Persian name for chief or ruler, it equates to Persian Ruler or Sar Paras. So Raisi not only served as an instrument and embodied the Sar Paras; his very name spoke of it.

Ebrahim

Raisi was at the height of his powers and presumed by many to be the Ayatollah’s successor. But that was not to be. On May 19, 2024, the helicopter in which he was flying over Iran’s East Azerbaijan province crashed into a mountain. One of the world’s most powerful rulers was no more.

What about Raisi’s first name, Ebrahim? Ebrahim is the Persian form of Abraham. Abraham is the father of the Jewish people, the grandfather of Israel from whom the Jewish nation is named. So Raisi was named after the father of the nation he warred against. Abraham was given the promise that his children would inherit the land of God. Raisi, bearing the name of the man who received that promise, empowered and armed those who sought to remove the children of Abraham from the land God had given them.

The Covenant

The name Ebrahim also pointed back to the man with whom God made a unique covenant, the Abrahamic Covenant. It consisted of these words:

I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you.

In other words, those who bless the children of Abraham, the Jewish people, the nation of Israel, will be blessed. Those who curse them will be cursed. It implies, as well, the dynamic of reciprocity—what you do to Israel, for good or evil, will, in turn, be done to you. It is, for those who bless the Jewish people, a word of encouragement, and for those who rage against them, for the anti-Semites of the world, a word of warning.

The Eye of God

Raisi had cursed the nation of Israel. But he did more than that. He waged war against them. He was unique in being the only president in Iranian history to actually launch an attack against the nation of Israel, to send missiles into the land of Israel. It is written in the book of Zechariah, concerning
those who touch Israel:

He who touches you touches the apple of His eye.

In other words, to touch Israel is to touch the eye of God. Raisi oversaw the firing of missiles into Israel on Apr. 13. He touched the eye of God. One month and six days later he was dead.

The Threat

It was just a few days after he had sent the missiles into Israel that Raisi sealed his actions—and his fate. Soon after Israel sought to de-escalate the crisis with a muted response, Raisi issued a public statement. It was a threat. He said that if Israel took any future action against Iran, Israel would very possibly be annihilated. There would be nothing left of it. The statement made headlines around the world.

Raisi was threatening the Jewish state with total destruction, a total destruction that would come through Iran and thus under his leadership. Raisi, in other words, would be the one to destroy it.

It was reportedly the last public statement he would ever make. Not only had he attacked Israel; he had sealed his actions with a curse and threat of total destruction. To threaten and plan for Israel’s destruction is a most dangerous thing. One month later, Israel was still there—Raisi was not. He was struck down. And there was nothing left of his life.
