In a world where judgment increasingly prevails, cancel culture and division, one young man’s quiet but profound moment in a university classroom has captured the hearts and minds of millions.
In a viral video that has garnered over 1.2 million views, Barron Trump, youngest son of President Donald Trump, did something remarkable. While in class, he listened as a professor launched into a sharp critique of his mother, Melania Trump. But instead of reacting with anger or engaging in a heated debate, this young man simply and powerfully responded with wisdom beyond his years.
“You talk about my mother as if she’s just an image, a caricature of what society wants her to be,” he said, his voice firm, yet calm. “But have you ever stopped to consider the humanity behind the headlines?”
With just a few sentences, the president’s son summarized our society’s deep problems today. We have become hyperjudgmental, not in a thoughtful or discerning way, but in a superficial, careless one. We tear others down without taking time to learn their stories, their struggles or their hearts.
Jesus warned us in Matthew 7:1-2 (NIV): “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
The Bible repeatedly calls us to love our neighbors as ourselves (Mark 12:31), to extend mercy (Luke 6:36) and to be slow to speak and quick to listen (James 1:19). Yet, in an era of social media, these biblical principles have been supplanted by outrage, mockery and reckless criticism. This lack of love, decency and kindness has led to skyrocketing anxiety and depression, especially among young people.
