President Donald Trump’s decision to appoint Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Bill Pulte as acting Director of National Intelligence is drawing renewed scrutiny after reports connected him to a controversial AI-generated image depicting Trump as Jesus Christ.
According to reporting by The Daily Beast, the appointment has sparked questions from critics who point to Pulte’s limited intelligence background and his reported involvement in bringing the viral image to Trump’s attention before it was posted on Truth Social.
Pulte, who currently leads the Federal Housing Finance Agency, was selected to serve as acting director of national intelligence following the departure of Tulsi Gabbard. While supporters view the appointment as another example of Trump’s confidence in trusted allies, critics have questioned whether Pulte’s background in housing finance adequately prepares him to oversee the nation’s intelligence apparatus.

This debate intensified after reports resurfaced alleging that Pulte brought the controversial AI-generated image depicting Trump in a Christ-like role to the president’s attention before it appeared on Truth Social.
According to Axios reporting later highlighted by The Daily Beast, advisers familiar with the matter said Pulte discussed the image with Trump before its publication. In contrast, other advisers denied that this happened.
The viral image quickly generated strong reactions online. Some viewed it as political satire or internet humor, while others expressed concern that comparisons between any political leader and Jesus Christ risk boundaries of heresy and blasphemy.
In an age when artificial intelligence can blur the lines between reality, symbolism and influence, believers are called to exercise discernment, pray for those in positions of authority and keep their focus fixed on Christ alone.
