President Trump commented on the latest ceasefire proposal from Iran, noting that while it was “significant,” it was “not good enough.”
“They made a proposal, and it’s a significant proposal. It’s a significant step. It’s not good enough, but it’s a very significant step,” Trump told reporters. “They have made and they’re negotiating now, and they’ve made a very significant step. We’ll see what happens.”
Iran’s response was shared by the state-run IRNA news agency. Demands include a permanent end to the war, lifting sanctions, and a means of safe passage along the Strait of Hormuz.

Responding to a 15 point U.S.-backed proposal, the Iranian government said, “The Iranian Foreign Ministry officially rejects the reported ‘15-point’ U.S. proposal as ‘unrealistic,’” the Iranian government wrote on X. “Iran firmly refuses any negotiations conducted under the shadow of illegal sanctions, military threats, or coercion. #Diplomacy requires mutual respect, not pressure.”
According to a previous report from Press TV, specific conditions under which Iran could agree to end the war include:
Recognition and guarantees that the Strait of Hormuz is in Iran’s control
- A halt to “aggression and assassinations”
- Establishing means of ensuring the conflict is not restarted on Iran
- War reparations
- The conclusion of conflict across all fronts and resistance groups in the region
Trump has signaled a deadline to reach an agreement with Iran. “Remember when I gave Iran ten days to MAKE A DEAL or OPEN UP THE HORMUZ STRAIT. Time is running out — 48 hours before all Hell will reign down on them. Glory be to GOD!” he wrote.
