A taxpayer-funded waterpark in Grand Prairie, Texas, is offering a Muslim-only event on June 1. The Daily Mail reports that the June 1 event to celebrate Eid requires a “modest dress code” and will serve Halal food.
According to a flyer for the event, tickets are $65 dollars with the food option and $55 without the food option. It notes that the event is “for Muslims only” and is a “family-friendly environment.” The event also features a “private prayer area.”
“We’ve set up a private prayer room upstairs, complete with adjacent restrooms for your convenience,” the event website says. “The room will be available from 5:30-7:30.”
One the site’s FAQ page, organizers reiterated that “modest dress is required—just as it would be in any mixed-gender setting. Attendees of all ages are expected to dress in accordance with Islamic values.”

When asked if men and women would be separated, organizers said, “No, men and women are not separated, as this event is designed to allow families to celebrate Eid together in a joyful and connected way. The entire waterpark has been exclusively reserved for Muslims, creating a private and comfortable environment.
While men and women are not separated, we ask all attendees to uphold Islamic etiquette just as they do in other mixed gender spaces. Please follow the event’s modest dress code, and practice ḥayāʾ (modesty) through respectful behavior—such as maintaining personal space and lowering the gaze.”
Reports of the event come as an Islam-centric development saw a court win as Travis District Court Judge Amy Meachum ordered a state agency to comply with a fair housing agreement it has with the developer of The Meadow, formerly called EPIC City.
