A museum affiliated with the Smithsonian depicts Arabs as victims in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001, terror attacks.
The Arab American National Museum (AANM) in Dearborn, Michigan, has an exhibit stating Arabs are victims of the attack. “The Arab American community suffered two-fold as a result of the tragic events of September 11th. As with all Americans, they suffered the horror and grief,” the display reads, as per Fox News. “However, Arab Americans were unfairly held responsible, yet not a single Arab American was found guilty of any connection to September 11th.”
According to a placard at the museum, “Coming to America became increasingly difficult for Arabs and Muslims, as security checks took much longer and many were denied visas for undisclosed reasons. These new checks and regulations resulted in a substantial decrease in the numbers of Arabs and Muslims coming as visitors and students.”
One of the art pieces reported by Fox News accuses Israel of targeting civilians and denying necessities to Palestinians.

The museum’s website describes the site as the “first and only museum of its kind in the United States devoted to recording the Arab American experience.” The site declares that the museum is a Smithsonian affiliate.
The Smithsonian has faced pushback from the Trump administration over allegations that it features “political activism” more so than historically accurate content. A recent report on the Smithsonian concluded that it, “and the National Museum of American History in particular, under its current leadership and current interpretive ideology, cannot be trusted to tell America’s story honestly and in a way that is inspiring, unifying, and worthy of our great republic.”
“By the intention and at the direction of current Museum and Smithsonian leadership, [National Museum of American History] NMAH has become subject to institutional capture by a radical, activist ideology that is fundamentally opposed to telling the noble, honest story of the great country we know and love,” the report read.
