Former President Barack Obama will be joining U.S. Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed at a campaign event.
“It is my honor and privilege to announce that President [Barack Obama] is joining us on the trail in Detroit on Saturday, October 24,” El-Sayed wrote on X. “Get. Ready.”
“Everything is on the line this year: a U.S. Senate seat, an open governor’s race, and the leaders who will protect our rights and protect our elections for years to come. These races will be decided by who shows up, and this is our moment to bring it home,” an event description reported by The Post Millennial says, adding, “Come get fired up, hear from our candidates, and leave ready to get out the vote for Democrats up and down the ballot. Then make your plan to vote early, and bring your friends and family with you.”

El-Sayed told NBC’s Meet the Press in August that he spoke with Obama over the phone after securing the Democratic primary. “I was grateful for his advice. It was very warm, very inviting, and I know that he knows the critical role that Michigan is going to play in holding Trump accountable, in winning back the Senate, and in building forward the future that we need,” El-Sayed said.
When asked at the time if Obama would campaign with him, he said, “Look, I really hope so. And it was a really good conversation about what we need to do to be able to win. And obviously, this is somebody who knows a lot about winning Michigan.”
