Joni Lamb Honored in Emotional Daystar Worship Tribute Led by Jentezen Franklin

People around the world are continuing to reflect on the life and legacy of Joni Lamb after Daystar Television Network aired a special worship tribute honoring her deep love for praise, ministry and bringing people into the presence of God.

For many of us who have watched Daystar through the years, the program felt less like a television broadcast and more like a family gathering centered on worship, remembrance and hope in Christ.

The special opened with heartfelt remarks from Jentezen Franklin, who spoke directly to viewers grieving the loss alongside the Lamb family.

“Hello Daystar family. I know that many of you have heard the heartbreaking news that our beloved Joni Lamb, the president and co-founder of Daystar Television Network, has gone on to be with the Lord,” Franklin said.

Franklin shared that the news deeply impacted his own family as well.

“When Cherise and I and our family heard this news, we were devastated,” he said. “We’ve known the Lambs for over 40 years, and we have seen God use them to reach multitudes, millions of souls. And that will not stop.”

Even in the middle of sorrow, Franklin reminded viewers that the mission God gave Daystar is still moving forward.

“The call of God upon this family still remains,” he said. “During this difficult time, the Lamb family is taking time to grieve and be together. And because of that, I’m honored to come to you today with this special program.”

Franklin also reassured longtime viewers that the network would continue carrying the message of the Gospel just as Joni would have wanted.

“I want to reassure you that all regular programming at Daystar will continue as scheduled just like Joni would want,” he said. “And you’ll still be able to find the encouragement, the ministry, the support, the love that you’ve come to expect from this great network.”

As Franklin reflected on Joni’s life, he described a woman who carried both compassion and conviction.

“We also want to honor the memory of Joni. What a champion for the Lord she was,” he said. “She was a velvet brick. She loved God, loved people tenderly, but she would fight for right to the core.”

The heart of the special focused on something Joni loved deeply: worship.

“But we also know that she would want us to put on the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness,” Franklin said. “She loved worship. She loved bringing glory to the Lord. It was her favorite thing, leading people into the presence of God through singing and worship so they could have a life-changing encounter with Jesus Christ.”

“So today, we want to invite you to step into the throne room of heaven right where you’re watching and join us as we set our eyes upon Jesus,” Franklin said. “Please worship with us as we look back through the years of the music of Joni Lamb and the great Daystar singers.”

The broadcast then moved into extended worship performances from days past, filled with songs about faith, healing, perseverance, miracles and the goodness of God through every season of life. The music became a reminder that even in grief, we can still lift our eyes to the Lord.

The special concluded with Franklin leading viewers in a prayer of salvation and encouraging those carrying burdens, pain or uncertainty to reach out to Daystar’s prayer ministry for support.

Daystar publicly announced Joni Lamb’s passing on Thursday, May 7, leading to an outpouring of prayers, memories and tributes from Christian leaders and viewers around the world who were touched by her life, her faith and her unwavering love for worship.
