A deadly terrorist shooting in the northern neighborhood of Ramot left six people dead and more than a dozen others injured Monday morning. The attack, which took place near a crowded bus stop, has shaken the city and once again placed Israel’s security challenges at the forefront of world attention.
As reported by Israel365 News, two armed terrorists opened fire on civilians with “locally manufactured ‘Carlo’ submachine guns.” The victims included a man and a woman in their 50s, as well as three men in their 30s. Magen David Adom emergency responders rushed to the scene, treating “seven critically injured individuals” while others sustained moderate and light wounds.

Israeli security forces acted quickly, with “an IDF squad commander and an armed civilian neutralizing the attackers on the spot.” Authorities believe the terrorists arrived from a village near Ramallah, and checkpoints between Jerusalem and Judea and Samaria were immediately closed for security sweeps.

Zechariah 12:2-3 declares, “I am going to make Jerusalem a cup of reeling before all the surrounding nations. And when there is a siege against Judah, it is also against Jerusalem. And it will be on that day that I will set Jerusalem as a weighty stone to all the peoples. All who carry it will surely gash themselves, and all the nations of the land will be gathered against it.”
Attacks such as the one in Ramot show how violence against Israel is a recurring reality that will intensify until the Antichrist rises and establishes a temporary false peace with the Jewish nation.
Hamas praised the shooting, calling it “a natural response to the occupation’s crimes,” language that stirs division and emboldens further violence. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened an emergency meeting with top security officials, promising that Israel’s fight against terrorism will continue.

This tragedy highlights both the fragility of peace and the faithfulness of God’s Word. We are instructed to “pray for the peace of Jerusalem” (Ps. 122:6). At a time when innocent lives are being taken in acts of terror, prayer remains the most powerful response, lifting up Israel before the God who neither slumbers nor sleeps.
