Iran’s president says the country is facing an unprecedented confrontation with Western powers, warning that the pressure campaign against Tehran now amounts to a multi-front war involving the United States, Israel, and Europe.

According to ABC News, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian made the remarks in a recent interview published on the official website of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, declaring, “We are in a full-scale war with America, Israel, and Europe.” He argued that outside powers are working to prevent Iran from advancing, saying, “They do not want our country to stand on its feet.”

Pezeshkian said the current confrontation surpasses past conflicts in complexity, drawing a comparison to the Iran-Iraq war of the 1980s. “This war is worse than the war in Iraq with us,” he said, describing today’s challenges as “much more complicated and difficult.” Despite economic sanctions and military pressure, he insisted Iran remains capable of defending its sovereignty.

The comments surfaced just days before Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump in Florida. Israeli officials have said Iran’s regional threat is expected to be a central topic, alongside discussions on Gaza, Hamas disarmament and remaining hostages.

Tensions escalated sharply during a 12-day conflict in June, when U.S. and Israeli forces struck Iranian nuclear sites, air defense systems, and locations tied to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The attacks killed about 1,100 people in Iran, including senior military commanders and nuclear researchers. Iranian missile retaliation later killed 28 people in Israel.

During the conflict, Netanyahu openly suggested Iran’s leadership could be challenged, telling Iranians, “This is your opportunity to stand up.” Trump echoed the confrontational tone, writing that the U.S. knew where Khamenei was located and calling him “an easy target,” though adding that he would not be killed “at least not for now.”

Efforts to revive negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program and ballistic missile development have stalled since the fighting ended. Trump warned that Iran could attempt to rebuild its missile capabilities but said the U.S. would respond decisively if that occurred without an agreement in place.
