The teenage son of NFL-star-turned-pastor Antonio Armstrong and wife Dawn shot and killed his parents, according to multiple reports.
“He was just that loving kind gracious young man and my daughter, she was the same way. She was so giving and loving and caring,” said Antonio Armstrong’s mother Kay Shorter said.
The 16-year-old son allegedly shot his parents on Friday. On Sunday, Shorter returned to the pulpit to honor her son.
“I had to come,” Shorter said of sermon. “Antonio would have said to me, ‘Momma, are you coming to church today?’ ”
Shorter is the senior pastor of Spirit and Life Kingdom Center where Antonio Armstrong served as junior pastor.
Shorter says she made “the decision to bless the Lord … when there’s good news … (and when) tears are running down my face.”
Shorter is now the guardian of the Armstrong’s children.
The 16-year-old is still in custody.
“Our client adamantly denies committing these crimes,” Rick DeToto, one of the lawyers representing the teen, told the Houston Chronicle. “There no motive; this doesn’t make sense.”
