Something we often hear in church or from well meaning friends is the phrase, “God is in control.” Most of the time this expression is used when people experience a loss or disappointment. The feeling behind it sounds something like this: “God could have prevented the tragedy in my life, but He allowed it.”
These religious statements are not biblical, and sadly, they influence people toward atheism. How? If God is the one behind the death, loss and pain in your life, why would you follow a God like that? Why would you trust Him?
If you allow yourself to believe that God is behind the harm, suffering or tragedy many people experience, you will grow angry and resentful of God, risking your eternal salvation over careless lies.
