God Does Impossible Math for Dallas Jenkins and ‘The Chosen’

The Chosen has become a global phenomenon. The first-ever multi-season show about Jesus and His disciples has been watched over 150 million times and translated into over 50 languages. Dallas Jenkins, son of Left Behind author Jerry Jenkins, is now directing and producing the largest crowd-funded media project of all-time—The Chosen. Yet this project began after Dallas’ own career failure and disappointment.

“When we were at our lowest point, after I had experienced my biggest career failure, I didn’t know if I had a future in this business. God met us. He laid on my wife Amanda’s heart this phrase, ‘I do impossible math.'”

They weren’t sure what the phrase “impossible math” meant until a year later when they shattered the all-time high of crowdfunding and raised $10 million. God spoke to Amanda again, “That’s what I meant when I said ‘I do impossible math.'”

The Chosen celebrates the authentic and intimate relationships built between Jesus and His disciples. The camera work and the music focuses on the one-on-one relationships Jesus built with people. The miraculous is experienced personally as individuals’ lives are changed forever. Jenkins reflects, “Jesus was finding that persons’ heart-cry and focusing on that.”

Filming the series with a playful, and at times disruptive, outlook on the events surrounding Jesus’ life, Jenkins captures supernatural transformation on film. Jenkins states, “If we can see Jesus through the eyes of those who actually met Him, we can be changed and met in the same way.”

The second season of The Chosen is streaming now on The Chosen website and app.
