Government control is creeping further into private life, and people need to be paying attention. A proposed bill in Ohio would give utility companies access to regulate the energy usage inside homes. While officials frame this as a way to modernize the power grid, Christians with an eye on prophecy should see the deeper warning signs of where this kind of legislation can lead.

As reported by 19 News, State Rep. Roy Klopfenstein introduced House Bill 427, which would allow utility companies to throttle customer energy use during periods of high demand. Klopfenstein defended the move, saying, “This legislation is a crucial step in our state’s comprehensive plan to ensure all Ohioans have access to reliable, affordable, and readily available energy.” He added that expanding demand response programs to homeowners and small businesses will “ease the strain on our energy grid and save money for all Ohioans.”
The bill proposes voluntary participation in programs where customers would permit utilities to temporarily adjust energy use, including raising thermostat settings or cycling water heaters. Customers could override those changes at any time and receive compensation for taking part.

Still, residents are uneasy. “I mean, if it’s voluntary, I don’t mind it,” Lakewood resident Pedja Troca said. But Mary Sweeney strongly opposed the idea, telling reporters, “Nope, they can’t do any of that. Nope. That’s why you own your own property, that’s the foundation of the United States.”
These developments look less like harmless energy-saving programs and more like conditioning for end-times control.
The book of Revelation warns of a global system where people will not be able to buy or sell without submitting to the authority of the Antichrist. While thermostat adjustments may seem minor, they normalize outside control in private homes. Jesus warned that no one can serve two masters, yet many are willing to cede authority over their households in exchange for small financial benefits.
Christians need to see the prophetic shadow here. What is billed as voluntary today can quickly become mandatory in a crisis. Once utilities and the government gain access to private homes, it will be nearly impossible to take that power back. These small concessions, among many others signs taking place in the world right now, are what Scripture describes as the “birth pains” leading to the tribulation system of total control.
