Season 5 is set to tell the story of Holy Week, perhaps the most powerful moment in history as this time span goes from Palm Sunday to Resurrection Sunday.
It is in this season that viewers will witness the heartbreaking betrayal of Judas.
During an interview with The Direct, “The Chosen” creator Dallas Jenkins explained why he is anticipating this particular moment.
“What isn’t a spoiler is how it happens and who it impacts and how the disciples wrestle with knowing that something bad is happening,” Jenkins told the outlet. “They didn’t have a hallway for it. They couldn’t understand it. They couldn’t figure out who it might be. So why is that? Why couldn’t they figure out it was Judas? I love exploring that. How does this impact Judas? Judas probably had a family.”
Jenkins also described the scenes that have already been filmed between Jesus and Judas as “heartbreaking.”
