Prosecutors Agree with Trump’s Request for Delay of Sentencing

One of the most important updates in the Donald Trump sentencing delay has just come to light.

The New York Times reported that “Manhattan prosecutors on Tuesday agreed with Donald J. Trump’s request to postpone his criminal sentencing.”

This decision comes as a way for the judge, Juan M. Merchan, to determine if the recent Supreme Court decision “might imperil his conviction.”


The sentencing for the hush money case is likely to be delayed as the Supreme Court cleared Trump for immunity involving actions done during his presidency for the case revolving around Jan. 6.

As ABC News reported, a letter from assistant district attorney Josh Steinglass to Merchan notes that, “Although we believe defendant’s arguments to be without merit, we do not oppose his request for leave to file and his putative request to adjourn sentencing pending determination of his motion.”

Prosecutors are willing to work with a two week delay for filing a response of Trump’s motions, per Newsweek reports.


The defense for Trump, Todd Blanche wrote: “The verdicts in this case violate the presidential immunity doctrine and create grave risks of an Executive Branch that cannibalizes itself.”

Back in May, the former president was found guilty on 34 counts of falsifying business records as it pertained to hush money from 2016 involving adult film actress, Stormy Daniels.
