Queen Elizabeth’s Search for the Wisdom of God

As the longest-reigning monarch in British history it comes as no surprise that Queen Elizabeth II sought out the wisdom of God. She was a beacon of inspiration for men and women worldwide, and her faith and trust in God has led many to the Lord during her 96 years of life.

Famous evangelist Billy Graham was an unlikely friend of the queen. He once said, “I have always found her highly intelligent and knowledgeable about a wide variety of issues.” Her call to serve exemplified her deep, personal, Christian faith, and compassion for those in all sectors of life.

She served as patron for more than 600 charity organizations including the British Red Cross and Cancer Research U.K. to raise money to take care of those who couldn’t take care of themselves. “Borgen Magazine” calls her one of the most impactful philanthropists in the world. The outlet says, “She also donates her own money to causes close to her heart. In 2015 she sent personal money to Nepal after hearing the news of the earthquake that devastated the country.”

She served as the “defender of the faith” and “supreme governor” of the Church of England.

During her final Christmas message Dec. 25, 2021, she talks about the loss of her husband Prince Philip. She said, “Life of course consists of final parting as well as first meetings.” She called the teachings of Jesus the “bedrock of her faith” in the video.

Talking about Jesus the queen said, “The hopes and fears of all the years, are met in thee tonight.”

The queen attributed her strength to God saying, “To what greater inspiration and counsel can we turn than to the imperishable truth to be found in this treasure house, the Bible?”

In a statement just released from Buckingham Palace the Queen’s family says, “We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished Sovereign and a much-loved mother.” It continued saying, “I know her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, the Realms and the Commonwealth, and by countless people around the world.”

The queen was a woman who aligned her behavior with her beliefs. Former British Prime Minister John Major spoke of her as, “selfless and wise, with a wonderful generosity of spirit.”

This world needs leaders who are strong in their Christian faith and seek out the wisdom of God to lead and guide the world in the ways of Jesus Christ. With a platform and role as important as the queen’s there is no greater call than to exemplify the love of Jesus and stand bold in faith.
